Earlly life in Upper Canada; the Upper Canada Rebellion; conversion to Mormonism in 1842; association with Joseph Smith; the efforts of Sidney Rigdon to assume the leadership of the Church after Joseph Smith's death; exodus west; marriage to Adaline Knight; lication at Winter Quarters; four trips to Missouri to procure provisions and work for the Mormons; settlement in Ogden, Utah; mission among the Indian in the Salmon River area of Idaho; establishment of Fort Limhi, Idaho.
