Born in Pike County, Illinois, son of Stephen Joseph Abbot and Abigail Smith. Family background; conversion to Mormonism of his parents in 1839; removal to Nauvoo, Illinois, 1842; their hardships; exodus west. Included is a sketch of the lives of his parents which describes the following: father's priesthood offices; his 1842 "temporal" mission to gather funds to build the Nauvoo Temple; mission to Wisconsin; his marriage to Abigail Smith; exodus west; his death; Abigail's remarriage to James Brown as a plural wife; Brown's enlistment in the Mormon Battalion; settlement in Ogden, Utah, on land purchased from the Mexican Government; pioneer life and family data.

Myron Abbott was born in Pike County, Illinois, on December 1, 1837. Abbott's father died in 1843, leaving his mother to care for him and his seven siblings. In 1849 the family traveled in a Mormon company to Salt Lake City. Abbott married Laura Allen, the first of his four wives, at Ogden, Utah, in 1860.
