Early life; death of his mother, 1834; memories of his father's second wife, Jane McMann Stoddard; conversion of the family to Mormonism, 1837; subsequent move to Kirtland, Ohio; immediate preparations made for moving to Missouri with the Saints; memories of hearing the mob roar when Joseph and Hyrum Smith surrendered to them at Far West, Missouri; move to Illinois; mantle of the Prophet on Brigham Young; working and living in Nauvoo, Illinois; preparations for the exodus west; member of the Mormon Battalion; arrival in Salt Lake Valley, 1848; discovery of gold in California; Indian trouble in Provo, Utah; removal to Parowan, Utah; marriage to mary Minerva Dart, 1852; removal to Kanab, Utah, 1870; labor on the St. George Temple.

Judd, Zadok Knapp, 1828-1909

Zadok Knapp Judd was born on October 15, 1828 (or 1827) in Bastard, Canada. His family converted to Mormonism while he was a child and emigrated to the United States in 1838. He served in the Mormon Battalion, and was one of the first settlers of Santa Clara, Utah, where he served as Bishop beginning in 1856. Judd died in Kanab, Utah, on January 18, 1909.
