Born in Clayton, near Preston, Lancashire, England, daughter of William Houghton and Alice Beardworth. Conversion of her father to Mormonism, 1842; immigration to Nauvoo, Illinois; marriage to William Greenwood; journey to England and back to Nauvoo; exodus west; arrival in Salt Lake Valley, 1847; plural marriages of her husband.
