Born in Greenwich, New York, son of Samuel Post and Mary Sprague. Early life; conversion to Mormonism; journey to Nauvoo, Illinois, 1845; criticism of church leaders; exodus west; return east and affiliation with the Strangite movement; missionary activities in behalf of the Strangite movement; ordination as an apostle in the movement, 1850; the appointment of James J. Strang as king in Zion and also his teachings; mentions of J.C. Brewster, Charles B. Thompson and Gladden Bishop as making claims to be the successor of Joseph Smith, Jr.; observations on the times and attitudes of the people regarding Strang after his death; observations on Sidney Rigdon, Joseph Smith III, and Brigham Young and the groups they presided over; theological discussions.
