Missionary bathroom stories, 2005.

Hansen collects embarrassing "bathroom" stories from missionaries who have returned from proselytizing missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her collected stories all involve an experience in which the missionary could not reach a bathroom and had an accident. Hansen believes that these otherwise-embarrassing stories are popular amongst return missionaries because they provide the missionary with a sense of individual and group identity, they initiate the missionary by acting as a rite of passage, and they allow the missionary to emphasize the humorous aspects of their missions. Missionary bathroom stories provide an environment in which embarrassing stories can be told without shame.
