Indenture : deed, 1812.

A land indenture document transferring ownership of 880 acres from Joseph and Ann Oglesby, of Jefferson County, Kentucky, to William Taylor, of Shelby County, Kentucky. The Oglesby's tract had originally been part of Edmund Powell's 14,000 acre tract, with the survey description in metes and bounds.

William Berry Taylor was a lawyer and land speculator who migrated from Botetourt County, Virginia, to Shelby County, Kentucky, in the late eighteenth century. After migrating, Taylor continued to practice law in Virginia as well as Kentucky. Taylor was part of the influential Taylor family that included Colonel Richard Taylor, the James Taylor's, and Zachary Taylor.
