Eleazar Wheelock was born in Windham, Conn. in 1711. A Congregational minster, he was the founder and first president of Dartmouth College. He died in Hanover, N.H. in 1779. John Wheelock was born in Lebanon, Conn. in 1754. He attended Yale University for three years, then transferred to Dartmouth College and graduated in 1771 with the first class.
