Harriet Ann Pratt was born in Hornellsville, N.Y. on February 15, 1827. She married James Ross Brink in 1842 and the couple became the owners of hotels located in Sioux City, Iowa, and Pueblo, La Veta, Ft. Garland and Alamosa, Colo. Their daughter, Ellen Anna Brink was born in Mankato, Minn. in 1860. Ellen Brink later married Henry Ventress Ausburn in Cortez, Colo. (1888), where the couple operated the Clifton Hotel.
