Alfred Winslow Hosmer papers relating primarily to botany, [1872]-1902 (bulk 1887-1902).

Papers consist of letters 1887-1902 from various correspondents and of misc. botanical periodical issues, articles, and pamphlets [1872]-1896. All items but one (ALS from Lavinia B. Bates, 1887 Apr. 19) relate to botany (U.S., Massachusetts, and Concord); Bates letter thanks Hosmer for gift of photograph. Series Letters consists of letters and postcards from the following: Lavinia B. Bates; J.E. Chamberlin; George E. Davenport; Merritt L. Fernald; Frank S. Collins; William F. Ganong; G.L. Davenport is noted for his botanical avocations, especially his research on ferns, though he made his living in business.
