Letters, 1843-1855.

Consists of letters to Alejandro Jose de Atocha, a Spaniard who moved to New Orleans and later became a citizen of the United States. The correspondence in the collection deals largely with Atocha's personal and business affairs. The period covered includes the war between Mexico and the United States, 1845-1848, and while the emphasis of the correspondence is not on the war there is political news and comment on relations of the United States and Mexico.
