Consists of a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings of the 13-part Associated Press series "The deepening crisis," which appeared in nationally syndicated newspapers between July 28 and August 9, 1963. The series -- which described racial prejudice and segregation in the United States and documented the social, economic, political, and educational inequalities experienced by African-Americans -- was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in journalism.
