After extensive service in the Revolutionary War, Col. Joseph Crockett (May 7, 1742 - Nov 7, 1829) traveled to Kentucky. Upon arrival in Lexington, Crockett became employed as a surveyor under Col. Thomas Marshall. Later, Crockett settled his family on a nineteen hundred acre farm in Jessamine County.
