Records document primarily the activities of the city's Board of Adjustment and includes a building permit ledger (1962-1971), the Oak Manor second addition & building of St. Luke's School of Nursing (1956). Various series include information on temporary dwellings such as basement homes, especially after World War II. There are copies of Fargo Fire Dept. 1948 inspections of all Fargo hotels. The Health and Sanitation Officer's correspondence deals primarily with city health code violations. The Architectural Drawings series contains drawings of commercial buildings and apartment complexes that are no longer in existence. An itemized listing of each building is in the finding aid. Notable buildings include: Grand Theater, Nash Finch Co. of Fargo, Standard Oil Co., KFGO Radio. Architects represented include W.D. Gillespie, Joseph E. Rosatti, George F. Dippell, William F. Kurke and O.A. Braseth.
