George H. Ryan administrative files, 1981-1989.

Files primarily concern the Senior Ligislative Forum, an organization administered by the Lieutenant Governor's office. The forum was a statewide group of volunteers whose prupose was to obtain local input on the needs of senior citizens and advise the Lieutenant Governor of their findings. The Lieutenant Governor in turn was to make appropriate recommendations concerning legislation and administrative policy to the Governor. Forum files include executive committee minutes, annual reports, monthly activity reports, membership lists, biographies of officers, copies of its constitution and bylaws, newsletters, newspaper clippings, and related correspondence and memoranda. Subjects include such topics as transportation needs, crime against the elderly, abuse of seniors, state and federal funding, nutrition programs, the process of aging, tax reform, long-term care, alcoholism and substance abuse, and a senior action hot line. Also included are staff working papers, reports, publications, photographs, and press releases concerning trade and export development, substance abuse, employee owned and small businesses, rural Illinois, a possible new state constitutional conventional convention, and minutes of the Governor's Task Force on the Future of Rural Illinois (1986) and of the Abandoned Mined Lands Reclamation Council (1986-1989). Video and audio tapes consist of public announcements and promotional spots issued by the Lieutenant Governor's office.
