Letters, 1882-1899.

Consists of letters written by Sir Edwin Arnold, 1832-1904. Most of the letters are for the years 1898 and 1899 and are written to Francis Henry Bennett Skrine, 1847-1933, who had served in the Bengal civil service. They relate in the main to a memorial, which was presented to the Earl of Balfour, who was the first Lord of the Treasury and leader of the House of Commons at that time. Leters for the years 1882-1895 are addressed to various persons. Subjects referred to, other than the memorial, are appointments, gifts of books, Arnold's health, etc.
