The Battle of the Thames on October 5, 1813 was the last attempt of General William Henry Harrison to reclaim from the British the land that was lost earlier in 1812. The recovery of this land in the Detroit area was largely due to the efforts of Kentucky Regulars and a volunteer militia. It was during this battle that the great Indian chief Tecumseh was killed.
