Ermatinger, Francis, 1798-1858

Francis Ermatinger, born in Portugal in 1798, was educated in England and joined the Hudson's Bay Company in 1818. As a company representative, he came to Fort Vancouver in 1825. He worked in various Pacific Northwest and Canadian locations for Hudson's Bay Company until his retirement in 1853. He died at St. Thomas, Ontario in 1858. From the description of Papers, 1844.
