This collection contains correspondence, newsletters, postcards, articles, printed materials, editorial reprints, memorandum, reports, research materials, polls, speeches, and press releases. Of significance is Murphy's correspondence with agricultural leaders and organizations, such as Allan B. Kline, James I. Dolliver, Warren Garst, John Kenneth Galbraith, Guy Gillette, and Roswell Garst. Also included is the correspondence of the Service Bureau (a help service for farmers provided by Wallace's Farmer) and the results of numerous agricultural polls.

Agriculturalist. Donald R. Murphy was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Oregon State College. He joined Wallace's Farmer in 1919 and was editor from 1933-1955. He also served as a contributing editor until his retirement in 1968. Murphy was a pioneer in farm opinion polls, establishing them in the Wallace's Farmer in 1937.
