John Murray Forbes account books, 1860-1869.

Account books kept by Boston businessman John M. Forbes, 1860-69, detail his investments in various industries, in particular land speculation, sales of various products by ships involved in the China Trade, estates and houses, including the family estate on Naushon Island (Mass.), and especially railroads. Also included are a few accounts relating to Mass. cavalry regiments (including the 5th) during the Civil War.
