St. Philip's Episcopal Church was organized in 1847. In 1894 it became the Pro-Cathedral for the Diocese. In December, 1944 a new chapter was organized with, at first, the name St. Annes' Chapter, later in the summer of 1949 the name was changed to St. Agnes Chapter.
