Scrapbooks of former Senator Hattie Caraway of Arkansas. Containing mostly newspaper clippings pertaining to the senate careers of both she and her husband, Thaddeus Horatius Caraway. Sen. T.H. Caraway died while still in office. Mrs. Caraway was chosen to finish his term of office. She later chose to run for the seat herself and won. She holds the distinction of being the first woman to be elected to a United States Senate seat.

Hattie Ophelia Wyatt Caraway (February 1, 1878 – December 21, 1950) was an American politician who became the first woman elected to serve a full term as a United States Senator. Caraway represented Arkansas. She was the first woman to preside over the Senate.
