A.G. Brice was an attorney who lived in the "American" part of the city, (i.e., English-speaking Protestant), the First Muncipal District. He wrote about his daily activities, his leisure activities, and life in the city. There is discussion about American party politics. There are references to yellow fever, the case of Mrs. A.G. Howard v. Sewell (July 8), a trip to Texas (July 11-17), a duel at the Oaks at Halfway House (August 3) and a description of a parade of Mexican War veterans (January 8).
