Collection consists of materials related to the career of film industry art director Harold Grieve. The bulk of the collection includes sketches, renderings, and set plans for the film, The prisoner of Zenda. Additionally, there is a small amount of pencil renderings and photographs of sets for what appears to be Tess of the D'Urbervilles; a small amount of photographs of set and costume designs for The Devil dancer; and a small number of sets still for So this is Paris.

Harold Walter Grieve was born February 1, 1901 in Los Angeles, Calif. He attended Hollywood High School and studied art locally in Los Angeles and abroad during the early 1920s. He worked at Metro Pictures and Marshall Nielan studios. His credits include The prisoner of Zenda (1922), The thief of Bagdad (1924), Lady Windermere's fan (1925), Ben-Hur (1925), So this is Paris (1926), and The Devil dancer (1927).
