Scrapbook 1900-1901.

Scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, invitations, correspondence and other sundry items documenting the wedding of Mabel Anna McKinley and Dr. Hermanus L. Baer on September 12, 1900. The newspaper clippings describe the wedding, what people wore and the appearance of President McKinley in great detail. Ms. Scull included pressed flowers, candy wrappers and ribbon that she gathered during the wedding.

President William McKinley was the 25th President of the United States. He was beginning his second term as President after winning the election in 1900. On Sept. 5, 1901 he and his wife were attending the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York when he was shot by as assassin waiting in line to shake his hand.
