Roy Watterson Black papers, 1823-1970.

Personal papers as well as genealogical and historical research papers. Also includes some collected county records for Hardeman County, Tennessee and typescripts of newspaper clippings from the Jackson sun (1933-1959). Black's diaries (1933-1959) and correspondence reflect his interest in local history and genealogy. Family names on which data appears in the papers are Black, Walton, Fitzhugh, Crain/Crane, Exum, Pirtle, Shearin, and Hunt. Volume XL includes a typescript of the diary of Dr. John Robert Westbrook.
