Paul Hindemith (born 16 November 1895 in Hanau; died 28 December 1963 in Frankfurt) was a German composer, music theorist, teacher, violist and conductor. Charles Faulkner Bryan (1911-1955) was an important musician, composer, and teacher from McMinnville, Tenn. He is knnown for his many songs and for the Bell Witch Cantata. Singin' Billy, a folk opera, is the result of his collaboration with Donald Davidson, a poet and critic and longtime professor at Vanderbilt University.
