Story of Captain Jonathan Dow: Huntington Hotel, Pasadena, Calif.: typescript, 1948.

A detailed memoir of Captain Dow and his family as told by his son, Scott Dow. Concerns voyages during the 1840s to 1880s, when Captain Dow's wife and 5 children accompanied him to various ports around the world, including Italy, India, Japan, and the United States. The winter of 1878-79 was spent in San Francisco, where Captain Dow died in March. Also includes shipbuilding history and tradition, especially in Maine, with detailed information on several vessels. With a letter from the author's son to an acquantaince, concerning this copy.
