The Longworth family was a prominent Cincinnati family. Nicholas Longworth I (1782-1863) moved to Cincinnati about 1803. He was an attorney who acquired extensive real estate holdings. Nicholas Longworth III (1869-1931) served in the Ohio and U.S. legislatures, was the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and married Alice Lee Roosevelt.
