Insurance executive, broadcasting pioneer, and philanthropist. Born in Elyria, Ohio, February 11, 1896, the son of Bart and Caroline Ebert Bryan, Joseph Bryan was educated in the public schools and at Mount Hermon Peparatory School, Mount Hermon, Massachusetts. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, American Expeditionary Forces, in World War I. After the war he was employed by George H. McFadden & Bros., New York cotton merchants, and served as their representative in Haiti from 1919 to ...
