The Niagara Frontier Transportation System was formed on 1 June 1950. The NFT replaced the bankrupt International Railway Company, which had been organized on 19 Feb. 1902 as successor of fourteen railway and bridge companies in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Lockport.
