John J. Lynch collection : papers, 1776, 1892-1975, 1928-1975.

Papers contain information relating to the Lynch family in Brooklyn, Long Beach, and Ireland; business and personal correspondence including correspondence with several U.S. presidents and New York state officials; numerous awards; historical information and memorabilia related to the Brooklyn Democratic political party; scrapbooks documenting Lynch's activities in Brooklyn politics, the Emerald Society, Cathedral Club, St. Patrick's Society of Brooklyn, and as Commissioner of Borough Works, Brooklyn; numerous newspaper clippings related to his political and church activities; documents related to his Marian Year pilgrimage to Rome and associations numerous hierarchy of the Brooklyn Diocese; minutes and correspondence from St. John's University while a member of the Board of Trustees including the 1965 "controversy;" books, primarily religious, histories of Brooklyn, and biographies of St. Vincent de Paul; and photographs. Memorabilia includes a cannonball fired during the Battle of Long Island, 1776 found in Brooklyn and numerous political campaign buttons and ribbons dating from 1892.
