Crosland family papers, 1889-1959.

Genealogical information re the Crosland and related families of North and South Carolina, Arkansas, and various places; including undated typescript, "Tales of My Grandmother in Old Cheraw," by Toccoa Cozart, re life of Ann Seale McIntyre in Cheraws District, S.C., during the American Revolution, and her attendance at a Methodist camp meeting revival conducted by evangelist Lorenzo Dow. Collection also includes letter, 4 Dec. 1890, Briggsville, Ark., W.H. McCall to "Cousin Kate," noting hard times due to scarcity of money and low price of cotton, lamenting that no railroad would be built, and commenting re national politics-- "I feel a great deal better since the Nov[ember] Elections ... the reason of the American is returning to them-- our own state sends a Solid Democratic Delegation to the next Congress." Other materials include undated photocopy of pre-1850 Federal Census schedule listing Geo[rge] Crossland and family, of Bartholomew County, Indiana; excerpt copied from a published work, The Family of Edward and Ann Snead Crosland; photocopy of obituaries, 1913-1956, re members of the Stuart and Hood families of Polk County, N.C.; and genealogical information on the proprietary Calvert family of Maryland, and the Barnes, Cozart, Hicklin, Lemon, Stuart, and Wise families. Other genealogical materials held include two family bibles, ca. 1828 and 1854, apparently maintained by Philip and Matilda Crosland, including genealogical information on the McLanchlin, Shields, McLeod, and McInnis families.
