Thornton writes to Rev. Thomas Maurice about the ancient Egyptian eastern lotus bean, comments on Egypt as the granary of the Roman Empire, and requests that he write some lines about the death of Christ. Maurice inserted additions and alterations in the text of the letter and changed the date to 1800.
