The collection contains seven letters between Croves and Gabriel Figueroa and Bert Granet, from William Weber Johnson and Fred Zinnemann to Bert Granet, and a contract signed by Croves, Figueroa, and Rosa Elena Lujan (Traven's wife) as a witness, concerning the screenplay for The Bridge in the jungle; one letter from Traven to Raymond Everitt at Little, Brown & Co. concerning the script of Swallowed by the bush, bone and soul; a typescript of The Bridge in the jungle, 1957 (133 leaves); and a typescript mimeograph of The Death ship adapted for radio by John Anthony West (91 leaves).

William Weber Johnson (b. 1909) worked as a newspaper reporter with papers in Illinois and Detroit before becoming a war correspondent for "Time" magazine in London. He eventually became the head of Time-Life bureaus in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Dallas, Boston, and Los Angeles. Johnson became a professor of Journalism at UCLA in 1961 and headed the department from 1966-1971. He also wrote several non-fiction books including "Kelly Blue" in 1960 and "Heroic Mexico" in 1968.
