Collection consists of a memoir written by Charles Copland Wight (1841-1897) concerning his life as a student at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington and while serving in the Confederate States Army of Northern Virginia; a student notebook kept by Wight, presumably at the Virginia Military Institute; and diaries (3 vols.), 1863-1865 and 1878- 1879, kept by Wight's mother, Margaret (Brown) Wight (b. 1809), at Hanover Court House, Charles City Court House, and Richmond, Va., primarily concerning family activities and local events.
