Photographs, 1960-1989.

The accession consists of fifteen original black and white photographic portraits of oceanographers taken by oceanographer Warren S. Wooster between 1960 and 1989. The photographs were prepared by Wooster for an exhibit presented during the Fifth International Congress on the History of Oceanography which was held at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California July 7-14, 1993. The accession includes portrait photographs of Robert L. Fisher, Richard Fleming and Gifford Ewing, Edward D. Goldberg, Douglas L. Inman, Henry William Menard, Walter H. Munk, Jerome Namias, William A. Nierenberg, Joseph Reid, Roger Revelle, Milner B. Schaefer, George G. Shor, Fred Noel Spiess, Harold C. Urey and Polly and Warren Wooster.
