This was the voyage bringing out the 'Scottish Mechanics', and George Ferguson was the master builder, with Andrew Petrie his second in command. The baby in the certificate was christened John Dunmore Lang Ferguson, by the Rev. J. D. Lang on board the ship, the Stirling Castle.
