The London School of Economics and Political Science organized a series of three public lectures on the London passenger transport problem, delivered by Herbert Stanley Morrison on 8, 15, and 22 November 1933 ("Capitalist competition, capitalist monopoly, or socialisation?" [25, 29, 30 leaves]), and two public lectures on practical aspects of the London passenger transport problem by Frank Pick on 26 February 1934 ("The London Passenger Transport Board," written 19 February 1934 [13 leaves]), and by Albert Henry Stanley, 1st Baron Ashfield, on 5 March 1934 ("Practical aspects of the London passenger transport problem" [28 leaves]). Includes two broadsides announcing the lectures.

Herbert Stanley Morrison, 1888-1965, left school at fourteen and had a variety of jobs, including errand boy, telephone operator, shop assistant, and deputy circulation manager of the 'Daily Citizen'. He became part-time secretary of London Labour Party in 1915 and entered local government in 1919, becoming Mayor and later Alderman of Hackney. He was also a member of the London County Council, 1922-1945 and leader of the council 1934-1940. Morrison entered Parliament in 1923 as the Labour member...
