Alexander Porter Butterfield (b. 1926) was an officer in the U.S. Air Force, advancing through the ranks to colonel. He served as military assistant to the special assistant to the Secretary of Defense, 1965 to 1966, and retired from the Air Force in 1969. He was Deputy Assistant to President Nixon from 1969 to 1973, on the staff of H.R. Haldeman.
