Primarily papers of Benjamin Temple (1801-1872), planter of "Ampthill," Chesterfield County, and "Locust Grove," Middlesex County, Va., and his wife, Lucy Lilly (Robinson) Temple (1807-1884) of "Berclair," Spotsylvania County, Va., and "Locust Grove." Benjamin Temple's papers include correspondence, 1836-1845, chiefly with his wife, loose accounts, and a will. Lucy Temple's materials include letters written to her by family members and acquaintances, personal account books kept in Middlesex and Spotsylvania counties, loose accounts, and notes on religion.
