Virginia Militia Order Book, 1770-1780.

Contains daily regimental orders, records of courts-martial, extracts of orders, 1775-1780, from Generals Muhlenberg and von Steuben and from Governor Thomas Jefferson (December 1780); and a copy of an intercepted letter, 4 November 1780, to Cornwallis from General Leslie re: military matters. The entries were made mostly by Lieutenant Joseph Jones while the Dinwiddie militia was in the vicinity of Williamsburg, Va. Also contains miscellaneous accounts; a memoranda, 1770, about gardening; and accounts, 1779, of Peter Smith, mulatto.
