In a letter, 1803 February 26, Jefferson writes to Craven Peyton, Albemarle County, Va., re: finances and his bankers consent to combine two payments for March and April. This letter has a note on the foot, signed by Jno. L. Peyton, presenting the letter to Claudius Van Deuson. In a letter, ca. 1830, John Marshall writes to James Madison presenting a request from "Mr. Wattles" to paint Madison.
