Papers of Jack Bass, 1970-1975.

The collection consists chiefly of newspaper and magazine articles used by Bass in writing Chapter 14 "Virginia: Out of the Byrd cage," in "The transformation of Southern politics: Social change and political consequence since 1945" (1976) by Bass and Walter De Vries. Most of the material concerns the 1973 gubernatorial contest between Mills E. Godwin and Henry Howell. A letter from William B. Spong accompanies an article on himself.
