Steele-Wright family papers, 1792-1921 (bulk 1870-1900).

Chiefly correspondence relating to the Steele-Wright families. Early correspondence is directed to the Steeles in Caldwell County, N.J. Primary correspondents are Marshfield Steele and his sister, Mrs. Anne Elizabeth Wright; others include Mrs. Wright's son and two daughters, and a female student at Granville Female Academy, Martha M. Lehman, whose family was from Springfield. Martha's letters also refer to Wittenberg College in Springfield, and social and religious activities in that town. Includes other items such as: an early land deed (1802) to Josiah Steele in New Jersey; a copy of a student newspaper, "The Pearl"; a memorial program for Marshfield Steele (1898); and a photograph of Marshfield.
