Letter to his relative sent via Capt. Jesse Snow of the the Brig Alert, re bill of lading of goods being shipped, including prices for rice, groundnuts [peanuts], and sweet potatoes; debates in Congress re repealing the non-importation act, expectation of war with England, slow pace of business in Charleston, and plans of returning to Boston, including description of travel accomodations, and his preference to make several stops along the trip so as to avoid the "very bad accommdations" commonly available on the vessels that would transport him to Boston directly.
