This collection contains biographical information, correspondence, photographs, articles, reports, diplomas, and certificates. These papers document Hayden's work, especially focusing on her efforts to save Iowa's prairies, and radio broadcasts she made which publicized Iowa's state parks. A number of her articles are included, containing discussions of plant anatomy, botanical surveys, and flora.

Botanist. Ada Hayden earned a B.S. (1908), M.S. (1911); and Ph. D (1918) at Iowa State College (later University). She was also a member of the faculty at ISU, holding the positions of Instructor (1910-1918) and Assistant Professor of Botany (1919-1950); and was named Curator of the Herbarium in 1947.
