Chief field engineer collection, 1901-1931 (bulk ca. 1911- 1931).

Scope and content: This collection consists of correspondence, invoices, proposals, deeds, contracts, agreements, catalogs, pamphlets, brochures, booklets, flyers, and photographs from the files of the Chief Field Engineer's Office of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company (YS & T). A few items of pertain to the Brier Hill Steel Company, but materials concerning YS & T constitute the bulk of the collection. Traditionally, the function of the chief field engineer included monitoring construction and maintenance projects, directing and assisting junior engineers, and serving as liaison with contractors and other departments.
