Also include letter, 1836, from Joel Shrewsbury to Pleasant Dickinson concerning politics, Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, and national economic stress; letter, 1848, from a University of Virginia student to his brother concerning student life and temperance; and letter, 1853, from Edwin to Miss Sallie concerning a fugitive slave captured in Cincinnati, Ohio, his purchase of Uncle Tom's Cabin, and his proposal of marriage.
