Thesis focused on personal life of Francis Warrington Dawson, noted South Carolina journalist and son of Sarah Morgan Dawson, Civil War diarist. Includes series of lengthy letters (1946-1947) in which Dawson's son elaborates on the life of his father, and series of essays on Reconstruction in South Carolina by Alfred B. Williams, published serially by the Columbia, S.C. "State" in 1926.
